Abilene Mixed Martial Arts is not a chain or franchise. Our students receive personal attention with instruction tailored to individual needs in an atmosphere that promotes teamwork, camaradarie, and individual growth. We don’t believe in gimmicks or fads, and we don’t promise martial arts training will be fast or easy. We DO promise to make you a competent, confident, and complete martial artist. Whether you’re a child, teen, adult, senior, man or woman, you will find our approach to martial arts training to be a positive, life-changing experience that can improve your physical and mental health while teaching you to protect yourself against an attacker.

When Larry Fields, owner of Abilene Mixed Martial Arts, was a young man he had a hard to time channeling his anger. After his father left Larry and his mother when he was five, Larry turned to martial arts so he could learn to fight.

“My instructor found out why i was in martial arts and he said you know what this isn’t for you,” said Fields. “You need to leave. I’m not teaching you martial arts to beat people up, I’m teaching martial arts to protect yourself.”

A couple of decades later, Fields has transformed himself into one of the premier martial arts Breakers in the world. He holds countless world titles and records in several martial arts events. He’s also groomed many Abilene youngsters into world champions some of them in a very short amount of time.

Larry Fields has been seen world wide demonstrating his strength and agility on television shows like the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night and a host of other cable shows.

We have Fun!

This the reason our program is so successful is because we make the classes fun and exciting. We learned a long time ago that when our students are having fun, they learn much faster. We also welcome everyone in our classes – no matter the age, size, gender, handicap – we want everyone to participate and enjoy themselves!

Many experts agree that a complex physical activity, like mixed martial arts, strengthens neural pathways in the brain enabling children with ADHD to learn and practice self-control.

“I’ve ultimately come to realize that, beyond the physical, many of the most valuable aspects of the martial arts are the lessons of social intelligence and mental discipline. That is what makes this particular activity useful for shepherding the development of skills that address the challenges of ADD/ADHD, for both children and adults.” Michael J Formica MS, MA, EdM
